Day out at the beach

beach day out

If you’re planning on staying in the country for the summer, make the beach your best friend by planning special family days out. Take a portable bucket barbeque which is easy to move and clean. Wrap up all raw meats separately and carefully and bring them in a cool box lined with ice blocks or, as an alternative, why not freeze grapes or berries and add them to keep the box cold – they then double up as handy little treats to help the family cool down or to add to drinks.

Beach décor

If you’re setting up home on the beach for the day, bring plenty of comforts including a blanket and cushions which you can pop down on the sand or over a bench to help your clothes stay safe. Opt for real plates (which won’t blow away in the sea breeze) in tonal sea shades and pair with bright blue glassware. Pack a parasol while eating so you’re shielded from both the sun and sea breeze while you eat.

Bring the beach to you

If it’s difficult leaving home or you have too many people to accommodate – bring the beach to you by creating a sandpit out of wood and stacking buckets and spades ready for the kids to play. Inflatable swimming pools are relatively inexpensive and you can decorate the surrounding area with shells, coconuts and even inflatable palm trees for a fun look – perfect for kid’s summer birthday parties with their friends.
